Rue Seed Burner - "Espand Dood Kon" - Simple Design

Rue seed is burned as a part of cultural rituals in most middle eastern countries. It is believed the smell/smoke emitting from the burned seeds will keep the evil eye away from the household. Rue seed burner is used to safely burn small quantities of rue seeds. Our simple rue seed burner is a light weight piece designed for everyday use. The burner features a scoop like round piece that is designed to let maximum heat quickly pass through and heat up the seeds. Please cover inside of the round scoop part with small piece of aluminum foil to prevent rue seeds from falling off. Then place the seeds inside the scoop shaped part of the burner and hold the burner on open flame. You may also heat up the metal part and just dip it in bag of rue seeds to pick up/burn some and to cause emission of the resultant smoke. Rue seeds have historically had a long standing place in ancient medicine that now has been confirmed by modern medicine. Rue seeds (Peganum harmala) are shown to have antibacterial (including antibacterial activity against drug-resistant bacteria), anti-protozoal, antioxidant and antimutagenic properties. Both the plant and the extract harmine exhibit cytotoxicity with regards to HL60 and K562 leukemia cell lines.
